Whatever happened to shooting deserters? That is what should have happened. As far as I'm concerned he is a stone cold waste of oxygen.

The break up of this country is well on it's way, one only has to look at the last years starting in the 90's with Bill Clinton and on. The left has been winning even if those on the right thinks they are a break down in schools and in peoples core of caring plus drugs and the list just goes on

Very, very, did I say VERY well presented reality check of....The Bowe Burgdahl debacle called a court martial, but completely void of anything resembling a trial by judge. (I can't compare this to any other trial than the OJ Simpson trial)
This "event" has been a kick in the groin to every service member who ever wore the uniform, and disrespects everyone who gave their life in the defense of our country. Thank you for putting pen to paper on this matter.....and Well Done!

Thank you, SPC. I have to catch myself from calling what happened a "trial," for it was not a trial. Bergdahl pleaded guilty and then threw himself on the mercy of the court. His only rational choice given the facts of the case. The proceeding was for sentencing. The man plead guilty and then got off. That is shocking, disappointing, deflating and disgusting.

To me, the abdication of duty by the Court is nearly impossible to understand. There should have been a minimum of 15 years hard labor. Reduction in rank to E-1, and a Dishonorable Discharge. I'm embarrassed and angered by the decision. Aside from personal honor, what incentive is there for troops to carry out their assigned duties and obligations, particularly in a War Zone. Obviously, there is a politically correct component to this sentence, but the far-reaching results will be that all of us will pay for this.

Despicable is the only word I can use to describe Col. Nance's sentencing of Bergdahl. His decision slammed every single person who has served in one uniform or the other, some of whom have suffered grievous wounds and others made the ultimate sacrifice. Not to cast disparaging remarks about the Col., I don't know him or his record, but it seems to me that if he has ever been in the field in actual combat, he may have made a different call.
