Well said. During Vietnam, some of our own troops were getting shot in the back by our own troops for crossing the line. I feel Bergdahl should have received the same before he was returned to his post. Of course, that would have been way too easy and way too good for him. This wasted piece of human flesh doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air the rest of us do.

This case is prime example as to why the Military should have cases on matters like this one taken away. How can you tell young soldiers that rules matter and the military is an integrity based organization if you let him walk free. People who sympathize with him don't, he wanted to join the terrorists, they welcomed him as they would any of us. There's a reason we call it war. Actions have consequences and Bergdhals led to the deaths of 6 American soldier's I believe and he gets off with no punishment.

What is the US ARMY judical system coming to? Berghdal deserted his post, his unit and comrades and the US ARMY. So he spent five years as a guest of the Taliban/Al Quida. He was traded for five Taliban leaders, who went right back to killing American troops. Who changed the regulations on desertion and aiding the enemy? A Dishonorable discharge, reduction in rank and time served is like kissing his ass and saying "you're forgiven, dear boy". What a joke.

God Willing people will come their senses and Vote for Americans that will understand just what your saying! I know Trump and his Military Leaders understand and would have laid down the law with Berghdal!

All things considered, I believe he should have been given prison time for desertion and going over to the enemy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Pvt. Eddie Slovik was executed for less. Down the road, after the dust settles, I'll wager Bergdahl will appeal for an upgraded discharge, (his attorney will site his "honorable service" prior to this incident). Hope I'm wrong, but don't be surprised to see him at a VA hospital some day soon.

Bergdahl DISGRACED America, so his dishonorable discharge papers should read "under disgraceful conditions."

In WWII Ike and I believe Patton shot many deserters. We cannot expect anyone now to have their guts or balls.

Disgusting!!! Lives were lost because of his stupidity and very inferior morals and overall weakness as a human being. I agree he should spend many years incarcerated for manslaughter and treason. Scum!!!

This case reminds me of the only Soldier shot for desertion during WWII. Ironically Pvt Slovak, although charged, tried, convicted, n shot for desertion was in essence not a true deserter but a young confused Soldier who’s leadership had failed him. He was made an example of to others as to what happens for desertion. Two or three weeks later the war with Germany ended. He was the only Soldier Officially Shot for desertion.
