Access to trusted mental health care can be a challenge for veterans and their families. Navigating the complex health care system can be overwhelming, often leading to uncertainty, anxiety, and stress for military families seeking support. That’s why Face the Fight is proud to use Check-In, an online tool that connects service members, veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors to best-in-class, evidenced-based mental and brain health care. Check-In, powered by the Veteran Wellness Alliance (https://rly.pt/VeteranWellnessAlliance), provides no-cost mental and brain health services in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
Now, with Check-In’s “Connect to Care” button live on the Face the Fight homepage, we’re making it easier than ever for veterans to take the first step toward accessing trusted support personalized to their needs.
How to Use the Check-In “Connect to Care” Button
Accessing resources through the Check-In button is simple:
» Visit the Face the Fight homepage (https://rly.pt/FTFHome)
» Click the “Connect to Care’’ button displayed on the page
» Select “I Need Care” or “Care for Someone Else”, and fill in the basic information
Why is Face the Fight Collaborating With Check-In?
Face the Fight aims to streamline access to high-quality mental and brain health care for the military community. Our goal is to provide an “easy button” for the military veteran community to connect to mental health care, breaking down barriers to care and providing a seamless connection to impactful, life-changing support. Check-In is that “easy button”.
How Does Check-In Work?
» Users can sign up or be referred to Check-In, and a licensed Care Coordinator will connect with them within 72 hours. The Care Coordinator will listen, answer questions, and begin the care process.
» The Care Coordinator will then develop a personalized care plan, matching them or their loved one's unique needs to the programs and organizations best able to provide care.
» The organization that receives the care referral will reach out within 72 hours to begin the initial assessment and scheduling treatment options that best meet the needs of the client.
You Can Make a Difference
You can play an active role in spreading awareness by sharing that mental and brain health is available through Check-In on the Face the Fight website (https://rly.pt/FTFHome) or by referring a friend in need. Let’s all work together to provide the opportunity for veterans and their families to receive the support that we all know they deserve.
Face the Fight unites over 200 organizations to combat veteran suicide through public awareness, targeted training, and strategic funding of research-backed solutions. We're committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health by promoting open, honest conversations that encourage service members, veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors to seek care. We aim to change the narrative about mental health, encouraging veterans to view seeking care as a strength rather than a weakness.
Spread the word about Face The Fight and help us make a significant impact for veterans.

Overall, Face the Fight and Check-In are making important strides in breaking down barriers to mental health care, and we should all appreciate that.
On the plus side, it’s a simple, no-cost way for veterans to get the support they need. The care Coordinators work with each person to create a plan tailored to them. This helps reduce the stigma around asking for help, which is so important in encouraging more veterans to reach out.
However, in my opinion, there are a few downsides. Not all veterans know about this tool yet, so some might miss the chance to use it. Also, the 72-hour wait for a response could feel too long for someone who needs help right away.
Even though Check-In makes things easier, navigating the system can still be a challenge for those with less tech experience.
All in all, this is a solid step forward. We all need to help spread the word and ensure it reaches everyone who needs it.
