Dear SPC Grigg, the Department of Veteran Affairs offers a Veteran Identification Card (CIV). To apply for the card, please visit: https://www.va.gov/records/get-veteran-id-cards/vic/. With gratitude, Bonnie Carroll

I do not think the VA cares about it's veterans and is only finding ways not to pay them. There should be one place where veterans can go to get help and all questions answered. I remember when I almost lost my home due to an streamline arm refinance. I tried to get help from VA and congressman but nobody helped.

Good afternoon PO3 Refugio Navarro, I am very sorry to read your sentiment in this comment. VA is large with many moving pieces, yes, but we are staffed full of people who care deeply for Veteran's livelihood. Every Veteran is unique and so are the benefits and services they have earned through military service. We try to keep all of our benefits and services current and available through https://benefits.va.gov/benefits/ or call one of our representatives at [login to see] at any time. If you feel VA can be apart of delivering the benefits you have earned please give us another shot, we are here for you. Thanks!

There are few things as frustrating as not being able to find what you need, or feeling like you’re getting passed from one place to another, and we’re sorry you’ve had such a frustrating time. We know the VA has a lot of resources to help navigate it all as SGT Jordan Ketner mentions above. There can also be a lot of stress involved with financing a home, and financial stress does take a toll on the body. Here are some resources that can help:
• Connect to Verified Programs Near You
• Managing Stress During COVID
• ARCHANGELS COVID Resources For Veterans

I am a veteran with an honorable discharge in 1993. I can not even get into the VA. They gave me a 0 percent disability. How do I find out what benefits are available to me as a veteran?

PO3 Refugio Navarro Good afternoon PO3 Refugio Navarro. Vet Centers are community counseling centers available to eligible Veterans, active duty service members and their families. While we are a part of VA, our systems of records are separate from other VA and DoD records in order to remain strictly confidential. We provide individual, group, marriage and family counseling as well as community engagement and referral services and are available at no cost and without time limitation. Our eligibility is a bit different though. We primarily see those who served in an area of hostility or who have seen first hand the tragedies of war (mortuary services, UAV operators, etc), someone who has experienced sexual trauma while serving in the military, family members of those who lost a loved one while serving on active duty, among a few other groups. This includes members of the National Guard and Reserve components. If you believe this may fit your experience and would like to learn more, feel free to send us a message and we will be happy to connect you to your nearest Vet Center. Thank you for joining us today.

Your local country VSO can talk with you about the benefits that you are qualified for, they will also be able to assist you with a new disability claim if that is appropriate.
SGT LaTonya Squire
I'm in desperate need of a 5 bedroom home with at least 2 baths. I have my VA loan but I'm not qualified to use it, I need it to help get my 11 year old Grandson closer to one of the few Acute Pediatric Heart Drs. I drove him 2 hours last week to his new Dr's appt and he said that he would be more than happy to help monitor him, also for better opportunities in Tulsa. What can you all do to help me?!.

LaTonya – thank you for your service to our country, and also for so clearly being an amazing grandmum. We’re not experts in finding homes, but we are super familiar with the toll caregiver stress can have on our bodies…and COVID is only making that all harder, and there are resources that are out there to support caregivers like you in their roles. We’ve pulled together some essentials here - https://we-are-archangels.squarespace.com/covid-19-resources/#veteran This section contains VA resources specifically for caregivers and the rest of the site contains other resources you may find valuable too. Please share with other veterans – and we hope you find this helpful, and thank you again for your service, and we are sending good energy to you and your grandson.

SrA Latasha Mitchell SrA Latasha Mitchel - We always encourage Veterans to contact their local Vet Center. While we primarily provide community counseling services to eligible Veterans, active duty service members and their families, we are also a great resource to help point you in the right direction. Our staff, including dedicated outreach specialists, are aware of what's available to you in your community and can help connect you to available resources. Though we usually encourage people to just drop in, we understand the current environment may prevent some individuals from doing so. We would be happy to provide a direct number to your closest Vet Center if you provide your zip code. Thank you for joining us today and I hope we are able to get you connected soon!

SPC Richard Carucci - I understand you may be seeking tretment specifc to your TBI but would like to make you aware of Vet Center services that are available to eligible Veterans, active duty service members, including members of the National Guard and Reserve Components and their families. While we are a part of VA, our systems of records are separate from other VA and DoD records in order to remain strictly confidential. We provide individual, group, marriage and family counseling as well as community engagement and referral services and are available at no cost and without time limitation. Our professional counselors, many of whom are Veterans themselves, are available to help you identify any personal goals you may have and offer or connect you to available resources that can support those goals. If you believe this may fit your experience and would like to learn more, feel free to send us a message and we will be happy to connect you to your nearest Vet Center.
