At the end of February, I requested parts replacement for my CPAP system.
I again requested the same in mid March. This time I brought the parts to be replaced. I went to the first floor prosthetics area. This is where I picked up supplies before. As I stood in line, a lady approached me and asked what I needed. I showed her my broken parts. She ask me for my name and phone number. It is now mid July. Thank her for her lack of prompt response for me. As for my medications, I go online and order them. Can I ask why my CPAP parts are not under that same system? Just so you know, I have called each CPAP location I know. I have called my Team office. I am getting the idea that sleep apnea is no longer a caring feature at McGuire. I think I am getting the hint.

Question: LtCol Brad Lanto-- As myself assigned to The Villages, Florida clinic, under the umbrella of Gainesville, Florida, having the most concentration of vets in the US, have such a small staff to only see an psychologists within a every 4 week period more or less. Using the crisis line is the only gap-fill the void and now I'm changing psychologists on video to Gainesville, Florida which is a 5 week wait. Can this time be reduced to see more mental professional as Covid=19 keeps us more locked up? Causing more PTSD to be worse?
Thank you

Hi Joe, I know this time is challenging and isolation can exacerbate existing mental health concerns. Cohen Veterans Network has mental health clinics that offer accessible mental health care. We offer Telehealth, face-to-face video therapy in Florida. Find a local clinic in Florida at http://www.cohenveteransnetwork.org/clinics

SPC Joe Johnson SPC Joe Johnson - Have you connected with your local Vet Center to see what individual, group, marriage and family counseling is available? Though we are apart of the VA we are separate from the VA medical centers and community based outpatient clinics, but still provide professional counseling for eligible Veterans, active duty service members, and their families. We also offer non-traditional hours for those who are unable to make appointments during normal business hours. Though we have 300 Vet Centers across the nation and they all provide the same basic services, they often vary in the types of group sessions and community activities. We would love to connect to determine how we may be able to assist. Please feel free to send me a private message and we can connect you. Thank you for your honest feedback.

There are many of us Veterans who are ex-pats living overseas and need medical help and should be allowed access to the military hospitals worldwide. The have to see retirees but not us b/c space is limited they say. I am rated permanent 100% disabled and live in Germany but except for going to the ER and being allowed to get my prescriptions filled, cannot use the many clinics available at LRMC and I believe this is an injustice. The Army broke me, I should be able to go to the clinics on U.S. Military bases instead of having to try and find local German doctors, who by the way, do not take our VA insurance so I have to pay up front and then put in a claim whereas the base facilities can direct bill the VA. I can understand maybe not being able to see every Veteran but at least see those of us who are 100%.

How do I have to wait for spousal benefits. My husband passed away last year from conditions affiliated with Agent Orange. I submitted bills for burial expenses and for survivor's benefits back in September 2019. I am still waiting for the reimbursement for burial expenses. As for survivor's benefits they told me I would hear from them by the beginning of June 2020. I know with COVID 19, everything has been delayed but I have not heard from them in months. Is there anything I can do to check on the process? How long do I need to wait for the reimbursement for burial expenses?

In 1981 I was placed on active duty with the Navy. I was 17 years old and 2 weeks from being released from a mental hospital. Between the age of 11 and 13, I was repeatedly sexually molested by a catholic priest. These actions made my Navy service suffer. I still suffer from it today. I have contacted as many organizations to help me. I am trying to have my discharge reviewed and hopefully have a status change. I have filed a claim against the catholic church.
I hope you can help me.
Thank you

SPC Tammy Elliott SPC Tammy Elliott - Thank you for the opportunity to connect. At Vet Centers, we provide what community based counseling services, community engagement, and referral services to eligible Veterans, active duty service members and their families (when it is found to aid in the readjustment or transition of the service member). Though we are apart of the Department of Veterans Affairs we are separate from the VA hospitals and clinics. We take pride in providing individual, group, marriage and family counseling services at no cost and without time limitation. Meaning therapy wouldn't stop after an allotted amount of sessions, but rather when the veteran or service member decides. While we primarily see those who serviced in an area of hostility, those who saw the first hand tragedies of war, those who experienced sexual trauma in the military, and family members of those who experienced an active duty death, we look for reasons and way to qualify individuals rather than turn them away. If someone is found not to be eligible for our services, we will work with them to find available community resources that may be more suitable for that individual. If this is something you would like to learn more about or have further questions regarding, I invited you to connect with me and I'll introduce you to your local Vet Center! Have a great day.

I'm wondering if I can help or let my wife use my GI BILL. I'm certainly not able to use it. If there is a way. I would like to do it for her.

How do I get veteran benefits now that I am retired from my Civilian job?
Maj Bonnie Carroll
Maj Bonnie Carroll

Dear PO3 Heffner, thank you for your service. Connecting with a local or national Veteran Service Organization, such as the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, etc. would be your best resource for guidance applying for veteran benefits. Best wishes, Bonnie Carroll

My question is: is there medical insurance available through the VA system for my spouse that I can pay a monthly premium for? Thank-you in advance

VA does offer the Civilian Healthcare and Medical Program (CHAMPVA) to spouses of 100% service connected veterans, but I'm afraid I am not aware of any other coverage options. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions at [login to see]
