Mental Health and Suicide Prevention-
VA's public health strategy to suicide prevention combines partnerships with communities to implement tailored, local prevention plans, while also focusing on evidence based clinical strategies for intervention. Our approach focuses on what we can do now, in the short term, as well as what we can do in the long term, to implement VA’s National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide. Many Veterans may not engage with VHA, so it is necessary to collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies to provide Veterans with resources, evidenced-based therapies, and the tools they need to reach them where they live, work, and thrive. The Board of Veterans’ Appeals (Board) is an agency within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Its mission is to conduct hearings and issue timely decisions for Veterans and other appellants in compliance with the law, 38 United States Code (U.S.C.) § 7101(a). The Board is responsible for making final decisions on behalf of the Secretary regarding appeals for Veterans’ benefits and services from all three administrations - Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), and National Cemetery Administration (NCA)—as well as the Office of General Counsel (OGC)that are presented to the Board for appellate review. The Board’s jurisdiction extends to all questions in a matter involving a decision by the Secretary under the law that affects a provision of benefits by the Secretary to Veterans, their dependents, or their survivors. 38 U.S.C. §§ 511(a); 7104(a). Final decisions on appeals are made by the Board based on the entire record in the proceeding and all applicable provisions of law and regulation. 38 U.S.C. § 7104(a).
Compensation Service-
Oversees the delivery of disability compensation, a tax-free monetary benefit paid to Veterans with disabilities that are the result of a disease or injury incurred or aggravated during active military service.
Veteran Readiness and Employment-
Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) (Formerly known as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) services to help with job training, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching. Other services may be provided to assist Veterans and Servicemembers in starting their own businesses or independent living services for those who are severely disabled and unable to work in traditional employment.
VA's Education and Career Counseling program is a great opportunity for Veterans and Servicemembers to get personalized counseling and support to help guide their career paths, ensure the most effective use of their VA benefits, and achieve their goals.
Vet Centers-

Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers that provide social and psychological services, including professional readjustment counseling (individual, group, marriage and family counseling) to eligible Veterans, active duty Service members, members of the National Guard and Reserve components, and their families. Vet Centers are located in easily accessible neighborhoods and are separate from VA Medical Centers and other VA locations to ensure confidential counseling and reduce barriers to care. There are 300 Vet Centers across the country, Puerto Rico, Guam , American Samoa and the US Virgin Islands. Veteran Directed Care (VDC)-

The Veteran Directed Care program provides Veterans greater choice and control over their long term services and supports. The Veteran Directed Care (VDC) program offers Veterans and their caregivers greater access, choice and control over the long-term services and supports (LTSS) that help Veterans live at home and remain a part of their community. Veterans enrolled in VDC decide for themselves what mix of goods and services best meet their needs. This includes the ability to hire, schedule and supervise their workers. The VDC program is currently offered at 62 VA Medical Centers across the country. All Veterans, regardless of age, who are enrolled in the VA health care system and meet the clinical need for the service, are eligible to participate in VDC if it is offered at a local VA Medical Center.

Heroes MAKE America:
Heroes MAKE America is The Manufacturing Institute’s initiative to build connections between the military community and the manufacturing industry. Our signature training program provides our participants with the skills and certifications needed to find and excel in careers in manufacturing. Our program is open to transitioning service members, veterans, National Guard, reservists and military spouses. TAPS-
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) provides compassionate care and survivor support services for the families of America’s fallen military heroes. Since 1994, TAPS has offered support to more than 95,000 survivors of fallen military in the form of peer-based emotional support, grief and trauma resources, grief seminars and retreats for adults, Good Grief Camps for children, casework assistance, connections to community-based care, online and in-person support groups and a 24/7 resource and information helpline for all who have been profoundly affected by a death of a military loved one. I served from 1968 through 1972, active duty SGT at Pope Air Force base in Nort Carolina. I currently reside in South Africa, Johannesburg. Do I qualify for VA benefits? And if so which ones? If I qualify can I access them while residing in South Africa?

Thank you to your wife for the care she has been providing. The VA Caregiver Support Program has two programs, the Program of General Caregiver Support Services and th Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers. Expansion of the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) to Veterans of earlier eras will occur in two phases. In the first phase, PCAFC will be offered to eligible Veterans who served on or before May 7, 1975. Phase two will begin two years later and will make the program available to eligible Veterans of all eras. The MISSION Act recognizes the important role of family caregivers in the health care of Veterans of all eras of service. By expanding PCAFC to eligible Veterans who served before September 11, 2001 and supporting their family caregivers, VA will help ensure the overall care and well-being of Veterans of all eras. Chief, VA's National Cemetery Administration provides a range of memorial benefits for eligible Veterans, their spouses, and child dependents. NCA will cover burial expenses for cremated remains at a VA national cemetery, either in-ground burial of the urn or inurnment in an above-ground columbarium. There is also a burial allowance that can be applied for when families choose a private cemetery. Cremation itself is considered a funeral expense, which VA does not cover. Burial benefits that are available include a gravesite in any of the 136 national cemeteries with available space, opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, a government headstone or marker, a burial flag, and a Presidential Memorial Certificate, at no cost to the family. VA offers a partial reimbursement for burial expenses for certain eligible veterans, but unfortunately these funds are not available to offset the costs of a non veteran spouse. I read this an it sad that veteran go thru this what are we doing u s i am waiting on payday that goes back 11years i had a remand that the judge approved by v a don't want to pay. Sgt williams
I bought a house in 1991 my wife died in 2001. I wanted to bower a loan to put money in the home. The home need plenty of work. The loan people say I need to got to probate court. My wife had 2 airs. One died of Aids and the other living in Fairfaxs,VA. Is there a way I can change the title under my name. My wife died and she is no long here, I would love to take her name off the title. And just put my name on the Title.
I have a problem I served 6 yrs in the US Marines and did 14 yrs active duty. Should I be given retirement if you combine both. I was give a retirement Certificate and lost it, it stated retirement for Reserve Status in the Army.
