We are grateful for each of you sharing knowledge to assist us all. My husband and I are both Army Veterans. Please answer the following two questions:
1) Is there any funds available to help with our son’s Texas A&M University tuition and fees fall 2020?

2) What VA agency will help me defend, protect, my Veteran Father from neglect, money being stolen, and abuse? This will ensure we can return him to a healthy state and help with his memory decline. He lives in FLORIDA. My two brothers sent photos of inside his house and bank statements: bank statements showing $5000, $5000, $2000, $1200 back to back withdrawals and many more, no food in the refrigerator, house overrun with piles of clothes, papers&mail, passed due bills, as well as car loan payments (but Father does not have a new car). Please help. Thanks in advance for assistance in this pressing matter. You and Your families stay healthy and safe.
Warmest regards,
Veterans: Gadius & Pamala Charles [login to see]

SPC Pamala Charles I was born and raised in Texas but joined out of NM due to homelessness. My daughter's school allows my high school diploma as proof that I am a Texan. That's why I asked.

Hi SGT Reymer, thank you for your question. The VA Caregiver Support Program has two programs that you may qualify for... the Program of General Caregiver Support Services and th Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers. Expansion of the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) to Veterans of earlier eras will occur in two phases. In the first phase, PCAFC will be offered to eligible Veterans who served on or before May 7, 1975.

Phase two will begin two years later and will make the program available to eligible Veterans of all eras. The MISSION Act recognizes the important role of family caregivers in the health care of Veterans of all eras of service. By expanding PCAFC to eligible Veterans who served before September 11, 2001 and supporting their family caregivers, VA will help ensure the overall care and well-being of Veterans of all eras. We encourage your grandson to reach out to our program by calling [login to see] or visiting https://www.caregiver.va.gov/support/New_CSC_Page.asp to find your local Caregiver Support Program Team.

I’m shy to ask, but at this time of pandemic me and my family are really in deep problem on our finances.
Do we get a support from the VA, like stimulus or any?

I lead a nonprofit called Code of Support - and we've seen a 200% increase in applications for assistance because of the pandemic - families much like yours. We have a team of Veteran and Caregiver Peer navigators who can assess your families situation, eligibility criteria (be it for the VA, other government programs or community based nonprofits), work with you to to build a plan and connect to the resources. Just submit an application and we'll get it touch as soon as possible. https://www.codeofsupport.org/get-help. Hang in there!

Dear PFC Jocarlo Ebalan, Thank you for your question and your service. According to the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), if you are affected by COVID-19 and have a VBA benefit debt and need temporary financial relief, please contact Debt Management Center at [login to see] to request assistance. The financial relief includes suspending all actions on Veteran debts under the jurisdiction of the Treasury Department and suspending collection action or extending repayment terms on preexisting VA debts, as the Veteran prefers. Also, the CARES Act, signed into law on March 25th, provides for a one-time tax stimulus rebate for as much as $1,200 per individual, $2,400 per couple and $500 per eligible child. The rebate is based on 2019 taxes, or for individuals who haven’t filed, against their 2018 taxes or 2019 Social Security statements. Payments will be made through December 31, 2020. Rebates will be delivered electronically to accounts where a taxpayer authorized deposit of a tax refund or other federal payment on or after January 1, 2018. If you have not received a stimulus rebate, you can check your payment status through the IRS website https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment. With gratitude, Bonnie Carroll

I'm looking for health insurance for my wife and I. I am a vet, but not retired. I am VA rated for hearing loss.

Good Morning,
My home was purchased with VA funding. Both my spouse and my name is on the home. The mortgage is being paid through a banking institution. Should I die first, is there anything my spouse should do regarding the remaining mortgage as it relates to VA? At the end of life for both my spouse and I, is there anything our survivors should do or just communicate with the current lending institution?
Is it possible to sign the home over to a survivor we specify.
Maj Bonnie Carroll

Dear SPC Conner, Jr. Thank you for your question and your service. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, when a veteran passes away, the surviving spouse, where applicable, would assume the debt/loan. In cases where the veteran passes and there is no co-borrower or surviving spouse, the veteran's estate would be responsible for the VA guaranteed mortgage. It is best to talk with the lender and Department of Veterans Affairs [login to see] ) if you have additional questions or concerns. With gratitude, Bonnie Carroll

Thank you for your questions! Survivorship is quite complex, but in regards to your VA sourced loan, we recommend reaching out to the Home Loan Guarantee Office to discuss you and your spouses rights in the event one of you were to pass away. They will help you review the details of your individual mortgage, and advise you about what VA may do to assist you. Simply visit : https://www.benefits.va.gov/HOMELOANS/contact.asp

The Veterans Health Administration provides long term care in three settings, our VA Community Living Centers which are located at VA Medical Centers, State Veterans Homes which are homes owned and operated by the affiliated states(closest to Tampa is in Land O'Lakes, FL), and with contracted local community nursing home facilities. It is best to speak with your father-in-law's social worker, located at James Haley VA to communicate with them about options for his long term care. More about our different facilities can be found on our webpage at http://www.va.gov/geriatrics
