Mental Health and Suicide Prevention-
VA's public health strategy to suicide prevention combines partnerships with communities to implement tailored, local prevention plans, while also focusing on evidence based clinical strategies for intervention. Our approach focuses on what we can do now, in the short term, as well as what we can do in the long term, to implement VA’s National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide. Many Veterans may not engage with VHA, so it is necessary to collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies to provide Veterans with resources, evidenced-based therapies, and the tools they need to reach them where they live, work, and thrive. The Board of Veterans’ Appeals (Board) is an agency within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Its mission is to conduct hearings and issue timely decisions for Veterans and other appellants in compliance with the law, 38 United States Code (U.S.C.) § 7101(a). The Board is responsible for making final decisions on behalf of the Secretary regarding appeals for Veterans’ benefits and services from all three administrations - Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), and National Cemetery Administration (NCA)—as well as the Office of General Counsel (OGC)that are presented to the Board for appellate review. The Board’s jurisdiction extends to all questions in a matter involving a decision by the Secretary under the law that affects a provision of benefits by the Secretary to Veterans, their dependents, or their survivors. 38 U.S.C. §§ 511(a); 7104(a). Final decisions on appeals are made by the Board based on the entire record in the proceeding and all applicable provisions of law and regulation. 38 U.S.C. § 7104(a).
Compensation Service-
Oversees the delivery of disability compensation, a tax-free monetary benefit paid to Veterans with disabilities that are the result of a disease or injury incurred or aggravated during active military service.
Veteran Readiness and Employment-
Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) (Formerly known as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) services to help with job training, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching. Other services may be provided to assist Veterans and Servicemembers in starting their own businesses or independent living services for those who are severely disabled and unable to work in traditional employment.
VA's Education and Career Counseling program is a great opportunity for Veterans and Servicemembers to get personalized counseling and support to help guide their career paths, ensure the most effective use of their VA benefits, and achieve their goals.
Vet Centers-

Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers that provide social and psychological services, including professional readjustment counseling (individual, group, marriage and family counseling) to eligible Veterans, active duty Service members, members of the National Guard and Reserve components, and their families. Vet Centers are located in easily accessible neighborhoods and are separate from VA Medical Centers and other VA locations to ensure confidential counseling and reduce barriers to care. There are 300 Vet Centers across the country, Puerto Rico, Guam , American Samoa and the US Virgin Islands. Veteran Directed Care (VDC)-

The Veteran Directed Care program provides Veterans greater choice and control over their long term services and supports. The Veteran Directed Care (VDC) program offers Veterans and their caregivers greater access, choice and control over the long-term services and supports (LTSS) that help Veterans live at home and remain a part of their community. Veterans enrolled in VDC decide for themselves what mix of goods and services best meet their needs. This includes the ability to hire, schedule and supervise their workers. The VDC program is currently offered at 62 VA Medical Centers across the country. All Veterans, regardless of age, who are enrolled in the VA health care system and meet the clinical need for the service, are eligible to participate in VDC if it is offered at a local VA Medical Center.

Heroes MAKE America:
Heroes MAKE America is The Manufacturing Institute’s initiative to build connections between the military community and the manufacturing industry. Our signature training program provides our participants with the skills and certifications needed to find and excel in careers in manufacturing. Our program is open to transitioning service members, veterans, National Guard, reservists and military spouses. TAPS-
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) provides compassionate care and survivor support services for the families of America’s fallen military heroes. Since 1994, TAPS has offered support to more than 95,000 survivors of fallen military in the form of peer-based emotional support, grief and trauma resources, grief seminars and retreats for adults, Good Grief Camps for children, casework assistance, connections to community-based care, online and in-person support groups and a 24/7 resource and information helpline for all who have been profoundly affected by a death of a military loved one. I believe any questions you may have I could answer easiy, best over the phone or in person [login to see] ). I've been optimistic that my appeal decision would come through. More than eight years later, I finally received my date and hearing. Now I'm told there is no timeline, when the judge has made his decision I will find out. There is no one to call and check. Am I to wait another near decade? There is absolute certainty that my disability (s) came from my time, my obligation serving in the US military. I've resubmitted the evidence the miltary and the VA already had, proving without a doubt what was claimed. Why is this continuing on any further?

I am disability retired due to wounds to face and jaw. I normally get treatment at John Cochran. I have been getting outside dentist appintments for dental work . John Coshran has been closed since March and I have needed some emergency dental work done. How can I get reimbursed for this?
Why is it that over the last several months I have not been receiving my travel pay to my Local CBOC in Longview Texas and for my travel to my Counselor for counseling. I have been to the CBOC twice , once for a blood draw and once for a Dr's appointment with Dr. Ing and still have received no travel pay for those two appointments. I have also been to my counselor, Pamela Fisher, four times in the last several months and have received no travel pay for any of those visits. The paper work was submitted by myself or a request at the CBOC was requested by myself and have had no results whatsoever. If you can check into this I would appreciate it. The paperwork is under the name of Gary Ogden, last four 7423. It is hard for me to hear over the phone so talking to someone at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center is or would be difficult for me with the hearing impairment I have. I never used my VA Loan to purchase my home. Just my credit status. I will be turning 64 this October and I need help to pay my mortgage. I'm asking if a VA Loan could be used to save my home from being sold/foreclosed?

I wondered the same thing but my house was foreclosed in 2017 and I was never notified of the sale. Lawyers for US Bank did not have me served at the address I was receiving correspondence from the bank at. They put a notice in the county newspaper which is in a town 20 miles away and I don't read that paper, nothing in the local paper even though there are usually several notices in the local paper.
I was under a loan modification forebearance review and stopped receiving emails from the mortgage company a few months before they sold the house. No documentation of what happened to the review if it was approved or not, my back up was to get VA loan as I had not used it yet.
Couple months later I get tax records saying I have $100,000 in tax from the sale of the house because the bank wrote of the remaining debt. Originally bought the house for $185,000 approximately 9 years prior, because of lawyer costs, late fees etc the bank sold the house for $85,000 and wrote off the rest and now I have to pay taxes on the $100,000 which is a huge shock at tax time.
So I lose the house without notification of the sale and then instead of being able to claim the loss I know have a tax liability!!

I had lost my job in 2015 and was not making enough to make the $1500 a month payments. Oddly enough the realtor who was trying to sell the house for me over that 2 year period stop communicating with me, had not shown the house once in 2 years he represented us, but then had a buyer 1 month after the house was sold at auction. The buyer at the auction made a good $100,000 profit off the sale as the house resold for $185,000 again. Same realtor represented the buyer who was suppose to be selling the house for me!! I feel like the realtor and the bank cheated me on purpose and there was a straw buyer to act as a go-between...just very odd that after 2 years no one wanted to buy it but then all the sudden this guy has a buyer right after it was auctioned off!!

With so many of our brothers and sisters who have serve and are waiting for disability desicions and regional offices or BVA and unable to work so their unable to apply for stimulus help. What can be done in next cares act for us. They are giving away $3000 a month to other Americans. But Veterans are hurting homeless why can't they look into giving Veterans who are seeking disability help get a 100 percent at least until covid is over or even continue and still review claims to see if back pay can be granted
I worked at VA hospital louisville ky. For 10 and a half years. I was set up for termination by administration for reporting the use of dirty instruments on patients for more than 8 years. VA admin was caught manufacturing evidence to terminate me. I was given a settlement agreement and job to keep my mouth shut. I was again being set up a second time for reporting 300 critical lab errors per month. I was being threatened and had been physically assaulted at the VA, in front of half a dozen people. I have PROOF of everything I say. Forbes magazine did an article about this, it's on my Facebook page. VA is covering this up to this day. My life is ruined for standing up for my patients and my veterans. I had moral and ethical responsibility to DO MY JOB! I have attempted suicide numerous times because of this. Who is going to stand up for this veteran? Again, I have PROOF of everything I say. [login to see] . I need help please. VA ruined my life for me doing my job. Who else has morals and ethics? Certainly not the VA.
