We are super honored to be a part of this. Thank you to the VA and RallyPoint for including us. And mostly? Thank you to everyone for your service to our country. There is an incredible list of organizations taking part in this – and we’ll do our best to add value in any way we can… by answering questions, by pointing to resources, or even just by sending good energy and gratitude to all the military caregivers out there… you’re doing a lot. Thank you. ARCHANGELS’ mission is to LOOK for the caregivers all around us, to LOVE on them for what they are doing, and to LIFT them up by thanking them and connecting them to resources that can help. Thank you to every veteran for the caregiving you’ve done for our country, and we hope we can support you in even the smallest way in any caregiving you are doing now. #LookLoveLift.

Alexandra Drane - Thank you for your response. We are qualified for in home services however I refuse them due to covid and my fathers underlying conditions. The VA Caregiver support is not for financial support unless the veteran is post 911. I will reach out to them again and thank you for your response.

The Veteran Direct Care program, implemented in 2009, is for Vets of all ages that are at risk of nursing home placement. Alot of VA's do not know about this program, such as the Atlanta VA and some of the VA's refuse the program, such as the Montgomery VA. This program will save the VA money and help veterans in need. My father needs this program, especially during this covid time yet noone will help get this program implemented in the Alabama CAVHS. How can we get help with this and why is this program not mandatory? Why does the Montgomery Chief social worker keep rejecting the program when this program should be going to the Director? Montgomery was supposed to be one of the 1st pilot programs. The Alabama Aging Consortium is certified to administer the program, yet it is 2020 and the Montgomery VA still refuses it.

When will the family member programs administered by the Veterans Health Administration Office of Community Care (for CHAMPVA specifically) have networks of medical providers? We have found it seemingly impossible to locate any provider in my city who accepts CHAMPVA.

MAJ Phillip Santoli, Thank you for your question and your service. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, the family member programs administered by the Veterans Health Administration Office of Community Care for CHAMPVA do not have networks of medical providers. However, the VA suggests you may find both the Medicare and the TRICARE websites helpful in locating a provider. Medical providers that accept assignment will bill the VA directly for covered services, items, and supplies. Where a VA family member health care program is your secondary insurance, you can ask the provider to file the claim and explanation of benefits (EOB) from the primary insurer electronically or by mail to VHA OCC. With gratitude, Bonnie Carroll

Walmart is very committed to our customers, our communities, and our associates. We are exploring ways to work with the VA through our newly established health clinics. Please reply back to this thread on what you'd like to see in a Walmart / VA partnership in the future.

I have called the White House Line 3 - 4 times about the Montgomery VA and their lack of concern for the veterans by not implementing the Veteran Direct Care Program. I also called them to complain about the Montgomery VA having 4 guys put my dad into my truck and telling us they cant help him, call the fire dept when we got home. All that was done was a phone call from a social worker.

I have my Navy brother who is homeless and uses the VA for his medical here at the York VA in Murfreesboro, TN. What benefits does he have and is there any assistance in finding him a home?

Hi Bruce - I lead a nonprofit called Code of Support. We have a team of Veteran and Caregiver Peer navigators who can assess your brother's situation, eligibility criteria (be it for the VA, other government programs or community based nonprofits), and work with him to build a plan and connect him to the resources for which he qualifies. Does he have a cell or a way of communicating? If not, you can submit an application on his behalf. We often work with family members as well https://www.codeofsupport.org/get-help.

Hello PO1 Rogan, Thank you so much for participating today and asking this important question. I wanted to be sure an invite you to join the Military and Veteran Caregiver Netowrk at the Red Cross so you can get some assistance in your support of your Navy brother. We have a group dedicated to Benefits and Compensation where others share their experiences. It might be helpful to you as you assist in this way. Please visit our website https://www.redcross.org/get-help/military-families/services-for-veterans/military-veteran-caregiver-network.html
