The VA Caregiver Support Program has two programs, the Program of General Caregiver Support Services and th Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers. Expansion of the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) to Veterans of earlier eras will occur in two phases. In the first phase, PCAFC will be offered to eligible Veterans who served on or before May 7, 1975. Phase two will begin two years later and will make the program available to eligible Veterans of all eras. The MISSION Act recognizes the important role of family caregivers in the health care of Veterans of all eras of service. By expanding PCAFC to eligible Veterans who served before September 11, 2001 and supporting their family caregivers, VA will help ensure the overall care and well-being of Veterans of all eras. For more information, please call [login to see] or visit https://www.caregiver.va.gov/support/New_CSC_Page.asp to find your local Caregiver Support Program Team.

The spouse of a Veteran who died from a service-related injury or illness may be able to get a tax-free monetary benefit called VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (VA DIC). Please visit https://www.va.gov/disability/dependency-indemnity-compensation/ for eligibility information and how to apply.

Thank you for posting your question. Depending on your particular circumstances, you and your spouse may be entitled to an additional benefit called special monthly compensation based on the need for aid and attendance. For additional information regarding this benefit, please visit https://www.benefits.va.gov/COMPENSATION/types-compensation.asp

Thank you for your question. The VA Caregiver Support Program has two programs, the Program of General Caregiver Support Services and the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers. The VA Caregiver Support Program serves family caregivers of Veterans, however, our local Caregiver Support Program Teams are well-connected to the community and can connect you with local supports and services.
We encourage you to reach out to our program by calling [login to see] or visiting https://www.caregiver.va.gov/support/New_CSC_Page.asp to find your local Caregiver Support Program Team.

Richard -- Thank you for your service to our country. As a caregiver for your family, there are Veteran resources that may be helpful to you and cover a broad range of services and support – specifically the VA Welcome Kit, and the VA Caregiver Support and VA Caregiver Support Coordinators. You can find these resources on our ARCHANGELS COVID Resources for Veterans section (https://we-are-archangels.squarespace.com/covid-19-resources/#veteran). We hope this is helpful.

Thank you for posting your comment. A possible alternative would be to elect a Veterans Service organization as your representative. Often times they can provide personalized assistance with VA claims filing. For more information regarding Veterans Service Organizations, please visit: https://www.va.gov/vso/

I am assuming that you need a handicap designation for your vehicle? If so, it's generally through your state's DMV (department of motor vehicles). I found this article particularly helpful when I was helping my mom get a permit: https://www.care.com/c/stories/5835/how-to-get-a-handicapped-parking-permit/. Hope this helps! Thank you for your service.
