MAJ Multifunctional Logistician
Hon. Cheryl Mason:
Why are things not rated “service connected” when they occur and are documented in a Combat Zone? Why, does the Vet get punished (denied service connected) when the Medical personnel IN A COMBAT ZONE don’t spend the time to 100% diagnose issues (I.e. HBP, constipation, etc...)according to preferred guidelines (over a 5 day period multiple times a day)? It doesn’t seem fair or ethical to punish Vets for medical issues not being treated/documented properly when deployed.

MAJ,
Under the law, to establish service connection, 3 items are needed - current diagnosis, occurrence in service (either noted in medical record) or provided by lay statement, and a connection between the two. Sometimes veterans/service members mention these situations to families in emails or letters or to their buddies - these can be submitted. Even a journal from a military service member can be submitted as evidence.

But it IS in my medical record from Iraq (2006) and (2007-present) here and i have still been denied Service Connected. That's what i don't understand and i get the run around by everyone. I was told since it was diagnosed properly i can't receive service connected for it.
