Mental Health and Suicide Prevention-
VA's public health strategy to suicide prevention combines partnerships with communities to implement tailored, local prevention plans, while also focusing on evidence based clinical strategies for intervention. Our approach focuses on what we can do now, in the short term, as well as what we can do in the long term, to implement VA’s National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide. Many Veterans may not engage with VHA, so it is necessary to collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies to provide Veterans with resources, evidenced-based therapies, and the tools they need to reach them where they live, work, and thrive. The Board of Veterans’ Appeals (Board) is an agency within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Its mission is to conduct hearings and issue timely decisions for Veterans and other appellants in compliance with the law, 38 United States Code (U.S.C.) § 7101(a). The Board is responsible for making final decisions on behalf of the Secretary regarding appeals for Veterans’ benefits and services from all three administrations - Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), and National Cemetery Administration (NCA)—as well as the Office of General Counsel (OGC)that are presented to the Board for appellate review. The Board’s jurisdiction extends to all questions in a matter involving a decision by the Secretary under the law that affects a provision of benefits by the Secretary to Veterans, their dependents, or their survivors. 38 U.S.C. §§ 511(a); 7104(a). Final decisions on appeals are made by the Board based on the entire record in the proceeding and all applicable provisions of law and regulation. 38 U.S.C. § 7104(a).
Compensation Service-
Oversees the delivery of disability compensation, a tax-free monetary benefit paid to Veterans with disabilities that are the result of a disease or injury incurred or aggravated during active military service.
Veteran Readiness and Employment-
Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) (Formerly known as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) services to help with job training, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching. Other services may be provided to assist Veterans and Servicemembers in starting their own businesses or independent living services for those who are severely disabled and unable to work in traditional employment.
VA's Education and Career Counseling program is a great opportunity for Veterans and Servicemembers to get personalized counseling and support to help guide their career paths, ensure the most effective use of their VA benefits, and achieve their goals.
Vet Centers-

Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers that provide social and psychological services, including professional readjustment counseling (individual, group, marriage and family counseling) to eligible Veterans, active duty Service members, members of the National Guard and Reserve components, and their families. Vet Centers are located in easily accessible neighborhoods and are separate from VA Medical Centers and other VA locations to ensure confidential counseling and reduce barriers to care. There are 300 Vet Centers across the country, Puerto Rico, Guam , American Samoa and the US Virgin Islands. Veteran Directed Care (VDC)-

The Veteran Directed Care program provides Veterans greater choice and control over their long term services and supports. The Veteran Directed Care (VDC) program offers Veterans and their caregivers greater access, choice and control over the long-term services and supports (LTSS) that help Veterans live at home and remain a part of their community. Veterans enrolled in VDC decide for themselves what mix of goods and services best meet their needs. This includes the ability to hire, schedule and supervise their workers. The VDC program is currently offered at 62 VA Medical Centers across the country. All Veterans, regardless of age, who are enrolled in the VA health care system and meet the clinical need for the service, are eligible to participate in VDC if it is offered at a local VA Medical Center.

Heroes MAKE America:
Heroes MAKE America is The Manufacturing Institute’s initiative to build connections between the military community and the manufacturing industry. Our signature training program provides our participants with the skills and certifications needed to find and excel in careers in manufacturing. Our program is open to transitioning service members, veterans, National Guard, reservists and military spouses. TAPS-
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) provides compassionate care and survivor support services for the families of America’s fallen military heroes. Since 1994, TAPS has offered support to more than 95,000 survivors of fallen military in the form of peer-based emotional support, grief and trauma resources, grief seminars and retreats for adults, Good Grief Camps for children, casework assistance, connections to community-based care, online and in-person support groups and a 24/7 resource and information helpline for all who have been profoundly affected by a death of a military loved one. How do i get disability for tinnitus in both ears from my time in Iraq. I have tried and tried and just kept getting the runaround so I gave up. I got out in 2004 and it has gotten worse over the years but nobody seems to want to help me.

Based on your service in Iraq, you would be eligible for Vet Center services which include confidential counseling (individual, group, marriage and family counseling) as well as referral services to help aid in your transition after deployment/military service. If you would like to learn more of get connected to your local Vet Center team, many of whom are Veterans themselves, just let us know. We have 300 across the country that can serve you and your loved ones at no charge and without time limitation. We would be happy to work with you to help identify any personal goals, connect with other VA and community partners and provide available resources to you that will help accomplish those goals. Why are Veterans Hospital on Long Island NY Not open like all the other hospitals on LI, NY?
I just went to The VA Northport Medical Center
And was treated like we had the The Black Plague?? The hearing impaired veterans need to read Lips can’t do that with someone wearing a mask. Attendant at the exist but emergency room exit when told replay “So” we who are impaired Don’t matter?? We’ve paid our debit to this country I serviced during Vietnam they hsve a job because of Us veterans. Is this the new policy at the veterans hopital to be rude and belligerent to veterans. This too goes along with keeping the VA shut down what’s up with that in New York?? We are in NYC all Long Island hospitals Are open. You can see your doctor not on some phone which by the way doesn’t work great! Let’s open the VA in Long Island NY.

I'm a disabled veteran so since I got out of the ARMY my husband is the only one capable of working. We live in FL. He has now been diagnosed with M.S. and with covid 19 he cant risk working and will very soon not be able to work at all. We have 4 kids one is out on her own now. But now we're about to be evicted and honestly have no ace to go. If there are resources to help us or someone with a place big enough for my family thats not outrageous rent or rent to own wise please contact me . I hate to say I'm desperate but I honestly we are.
