Question for Maj Michael Kelly, VP Military Advocacy at USAA. What should one do if the corp recruiter at USAA is not returning emails after a week. I figure at this point I did not get the job, but I want to make sure as i would love to work with USAA. Also does USAA have a veterans preference and if so how should one craft there resume and/or application so it is recognized in the system.
Maj Michael Kelly
USAA receives over 500K applications each year and every recruiter manages between 30-50 requisitions/positions. Due to the high volume and capacity it is very challenging to reply to each applicant.
SGT (Join to see)
Maj Michael Kelly - Even if that applicant made it to the final stage of the process? Also does USAA have a veterans preference and if so how should one craft there resume and/or application so it is recognized in the system.
Maj Michael Kelly
USAA does not have a veterans preference, but does have a veteran hiring goal that is used internally during the hiring process. When applying for a role on usaajobs.com there is a question that asks if you are a veteran or military spouse - be sure to check that box. This identifies you to a recruiter during the resume review/screen process.

Maj Michael Kelly - Thank you that is good to know.
hello I am a veteran and I currently work as a market leader for a large bank. I would love to work with other veterans. How do I go about starting a career with USAA?
MSG Tasha Hernandez
Hi Maj Kelly. I have several positions I am interested in. Do you have any tips or advice?
I am building a new business. I am seeking to speak to Buyer’s to sell my products in their stores. Can anyone please assist me on this matter? I would like to submit my works to their Company’s and be able to meet with Buyer’s after the Covid Pandemic is over. I would like open a small store featuring Veterans Brands only. It will be the first ever all Veteran Convenient Store featuring our Veterans and Active Military Family’s everywhere. Thanks
COL Brynt Parmeter
There are many groups that help veteran entrepreneurs sort through the challenges of small business ownership. One is the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). Check out their Arsenal Programs to learn more.
I am a 90 point disabled veteran and have been retired since 1998. My mobility capability is poor and was wondering what kind (if any) work from home opportunities exist for people like me? Where would I go to look into opportunities such as this?
Maj James Wood
Hi Red, The majority of our positions are in-store but Walgreens have many opportunities that allow for working virtually. Most of these virtual opportunities would be corporate positions in the HR, IT, finance & data analysis space. you can view openings on our careers site: https://jobs.walgreens.com/

Thank you so much for supporting our veterans and their families during such a critical time that our nation is facing. I am a physician assistant and was inquiring if more hiring possibilities would be opening up at the VA or if the VA was thinking of expanding some of their clinics to increase access to care for so many veterans? I struggle to find such a position in central Pennsylvania.
My Question(s)... What is being done to train the veterans who are in programs - previously homeless, getting some sort of assistance, or other ways we know they need employment to fill these positions? There should be quick training programs that can be completed, some off-the-job if necessary, to help fill these positions with the people who truly need them. I felt lucky to be able to get approved for a program like Voc/Rehab, but it has been a huge headache and costly to me so far. I understand things are tough now but it is more than just the current situation.
Maj James Wood
Hi Wendy, Walgreens will offer onboarding & training for all new veteran hires. We have a specific veteran program called the Walgreens HERO program that will train veterans and will have a clear career path in store management. You can search for openings on our careers page: https://jobs.walgreens.com/

Timothy Johnston - VA Voc/Rehab - it has been a headache and most recently I have had to use my own credit card to secure my books for the fall. My representative is doing all she can in these times there are disconnects in the system, and they are overloaded. The CoVid happened. I am hoping it will all work itself out before I graduate.
Retired Certified Public Accountant with Masters in Taxation and holding a CGMA Credential. Am willIng to fit in any position that will utilize both my education and experience.
PO1 Nicholas Curry
Absolutely! Depending on your skillset, we always have needs for a variety of roles. The best bet is to search for a role that matches your skills by using keywords at jobs.amazon.com. For example, if you have networking or system admin access, try searching for those 1st.
Maj James Wood
Hi Ron, for Walgreens open positions, please visit our careers page: https://jobs.walgreens.com/. You can search by job title in the "keyword" field. Please leave the location & radius fields blank. My resume has been forwarded to the Hiring Director at VA Hospital in Baltimore and DC. How can I find out where I stand in the process? How long should I wait to be contacted?
