"You can only be buried in a National Cemetery if you were KIA, died on active duty or retired from the military."

Any veteran who meets at least one of these criteria is also eligible.

The person qualifying for burial benefits is a Veteran who didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge, or

The person qualifying for burial benefits is a service member who died while on active duty, active duty for training, or inactive duty for training, or

The person qualifying for burial benefits is the spouse or surviving spouse of a Veteran (even if they remarried after the Veteran’s death), or

The person qualifying for burial benefits is the minor child of a Veteran (even if the Veteran died first) or, in some cases, the unmarried adult dependent child of a Veteran

"VA won't give me the same medication that I can get outside the VA."

I get the same meds and at a far better price.

Jardiance:' outside $395 per month. VA. $15 for 3 months.

There are MANY current meds that are NOT in the VA formulary and which you can't get from the VA regardless of need without going through a LENGTHY process of getting them approved for dissemination outside of the regular pharmacy channels. Some of these are currently Trintellix (an antidepressant) and Ozempic (diabetes). I have had all too many meds denied over the years because they weren't currently in the VA formulary, and the VA wanted to prescribe only out of date meds that, basically, made my non-VA doctors shudder. The VA is AT LEAST a decade behind in its formulary. When I complained about this in a survey, I did get a call from a VA representative who basically offered me excuses. (sorry for the all-caps, but trying to get things underlined merely leads to getting a display of the code behind the page)
