This upcoming fall (August 2020) I’ll be starting my 2 year tenure in the Army ROTC Green to Gold Active Duty program. My enlisted time is effectively ending in a few months between June - July, so I’m wondering if I’ll receive E5 pay once entering the program or if I’ll keep my E4 pay? If I automatically receive E5 pay then I’ll just keep working on my academics until it’s my time to leave my unit, but if I were to keep my E4 pay then I’d basically take care of the board/BLC in order to get promoted and get paid on a higher level during my 2 years in the program.

I did G2G ADO. You keep the pay at the rate you were getting upon joint the program. You will also remain “enlisted” until you complete your ROTC and school time. A day or two before you commission (graduate), you will receive an enlisted service DD 214 and an Oath to Office, essentially not breaking service time at all.
Go to the board and BLC. Get that E-5 pay while you can. Once you are officially in school, you will not get a chance at that and you will need the $$. Hit me up if you have any other questions about the process and anything for G2G ADO related.

The GoArmy site says "Soldiers selected to participate in this program will continue to receive their current pay and allowances while in the program (up to a maximum of 24 consecutive months)." So, the "can't fail," near term solution is to go to the board. Good luck!

While not ADO, I was a Green-to-Gold ROTC scholarship winner. Pay is a concern, but academics should be bigger concern. Your GPA and ability to graduate on time affect your OML for commissioning and duty station after school. Depending on your university and major, you may need extra preparation to ensure that you can keep up in class.

You’re right, I couldn’t agree more. Classes won’t be affected by a decision to go to BLC or not. At this point I’m just stuck between purely concentrating on academics or hitting another gear and adding BLC during my final months here in Korea.

If I were you, I'd focus on academics and PT. The off-duty courses that I took during my last enlisted assignment were easy. When I became a full-time student and ROTC cadet, my GPA was lousy during first semester. While you will succeed overall, focus on academics now to avoid complacency later.
