that article tells me the police involved did nothing improper. I don't like to blame the victim, especially if he is a decorated veteran. however, I imagine the police arrived Code 1. that means lights and sirens. at 1:30 in the morning, it would be impossible to miss the flashing blue and red lights. I commend Mr. Black's actions defending his grandson. it is nothing less than most fathers and grandfathers would do.
I do have to ask. did Mr. Black fire his weapon after the police arrived? did he point it, either inadvertently or on purpose, at the police officers?

SPC Mark Huddleston - Yes, he was in his own home. Yes, his wife called, but the reports indicate that the call was not clear, and that parts of it were garbled and unable to be understood. There was someone who had broken in and was attacking a member of the household, and the police were called to help. When they arrive, the see a man with a gun who, likely because he's hard of hearing and had just shot a gun in a small room, did not understand the officer's commands.

Is it a justifiable shooting? So far it looks like it is, but we haven't seen all of the evidence, like the body cams. But, unlike you, I'm not going to hysterically claim that all police are bad because of one tragic incident that may not be a criminal act on the part of the police. If, however, evidence comes out to show that it was misconduct, then the officers should be held accountable. I've been very clear on how this needs to happen in the articles I've written on the subject. There needs to be an outside criminal investigation. There needs to be a prosecutor appointed that is from outside the local prosecutor. The report needs to be released to the public.

In any event, the police have shown the body cam footage to the family, who have requested that it not be released to the public. I still think that it should be released, but this is not a case of the police hiding what happened. Additionally, the widow invited the police to the funeral service, because she didn't blame the officer. Finally, you're willing to throw a veteran under the bus because he shot and killed a veteran. Your attitude is no due process, just hang him now, he must be guilty, yet you accuse others of ignoring the Constitution. Try not to be a snowflake about this, and like the family requested, let the investigation be completed. https://twitter.com/AuroraPD/status/ [login to see] 61553921/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E [login to see] 61553921&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nbcnews.com%2Fnews%2Fus-news%2Fpolice-describe-chaotic-scene-veteran-killed-after-self-defense-shooting-n897196

SPC Mark Huddleston - so you're still OK with throwing a veteran under the bus before the facts are established?

SPC Mark Huddleston - I'm talking about you throwing the police officer under the bus. He's also a veteran. You seem to be fine with throwing that veteran under the bus, without letting all of the facts come out.

I'll wait for the results of the investigation if there is any. From what I've picked up of the story it sounds like the cop was both too pumped up and frightened to be effective in policing

SGT Jim Arnold I agree with you also. "Pumped up" is along the lines I was thinking as well.

There are good cops and bad ones. The police need to police their own

Lt Col Charlie Brown Colonel, I could not agree with you more. I have been an LEO supporter and for the most part many, many of them are top notch. You hit the nail on the head - "The police need to police their own." Problem is, they don't. We have devolved in some sort of sissy, mamby-pamby society. Be careful you don't hurt someone's feelings.

SCPO (Join to see) i have seen both sides. I work with the children of officers killed in the LOD. I have also seen incredibly inappropriate police behavior. Well run police forces hold people accountable and others do not.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - I asked you if support what Brown said in the fourth sentence of his tirade. Sentences 6 and 7 are equally vile. Do you accept his tenant?
