Catch 22: "He was ordered to cooperate with the investigation, but was also given a Miranda warning by the FBI agents"
IF he had told the truth would he still have been fired?
And why was not the Dispatcher, who also lied to the Feds not fired?

Bottom line, if you are given a Miranda warning you ask for a lawyer before cooperating. And if the Police Department considers that "insubordination" then that is NOT an organization you want to work for.

COL William Oseles - exactly, sir.

French was going to be fired either way. I would image, based on my experience with the police department that the dispatcher was also terminated. She just wasn't charged criminally.

So he had absolutely NO incentive to talk with the Feds.
When in doubt, get a lawyer because your words Can and Will be used against you, unless you are a Clinton.
