A good look at something astounding most folks have never seen. And hopefully will not experience. Apparently, it is a rarity that it was captured on a security camera.
The video the geology prof was sent starts at about minute 6 if you want to go directly to it.
He walks us through several replays of a several second video suggesting where to look to see evidence of the the ground movement. It does take several times to see it all, actually.
From a scientific perspective it is absolutely fascinating, though in places there was hugely devastating damage from the quake. And that is what motivates folks to try to figure out how to predict EQ and all natural disasters.
Before the six minute mark he is showing a USGS page that provides good information. It is a relatively new feature from U.S.G.S.that goes into depth about everything associated with specific EQs.
