Gulf War Illness (GWI) Clinical Research is crucial! As we enter our 33rd year, post deployment; we need help from our Persian Gulf War Veterans (PGWV) to participate in research. I’m proud of the DoD for granting supportive funding. The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) is fully involved by awarding Nova Southeastern University and the Institute of Neuro-Immune Medicine (NSU/INIM) with the challenging tasks leading to diagnosis and treatment of GWI. The completion of this short, 3-question recruitment registry is the first step to participating in the ongoing clinical research: https://redcap.nova.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=Y9YF8JJWJRK8HEKL

I have an acquaintance who succumbed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia that was related to Gulf War Syndrome. My question relates not to the GWS, but how to acknowledge his service to his widow and step-son, who he married after he got out of the Army but before he got sick. Would receiving a coin be a sad reminder of what caused his illness/death?
