I remember when an E-5 with 2 kids was eligible for food stamps. Many still live from the 1st to the 15th. Any increase ahead of the cost of living is a good thing.

Sgt (Join to see) I would argue that we absolutely need it the budget increase, you may not be directly affected by the growing issue of our major equipment (ships, submarines, and airplanes) becoming out of date and out of shape. There is so much maintenance that is deferred and deferred and deferred to say the least because of money and causes reliability to decrease significantly. PO1 Chris V. I absolutely agree that congress's wheels never turn fast enough which is a problem in that of itself! 1stSgt Glenn Brackin I really don't think we will ever get any help from the Democrats and do believe that growing partisanship and disdain for each others political party is an increasing problem for our nation, both in congress and in society in general. CPL Crystal Pettway, MBA you are welcome, and thanks for your appreciation.

But therein lies the problem. We don't absolutely have to have a lot of the stuff we currently have. We can't afford the current track we're on forever. But at the same time we can't decrease spending significantly without possibly losing footing in the world superpowers to another country.
Like I tried to say in the last post, just because we have it doesn't mean we need it.
