Our systems have limited ways to respond to disease and injury...raised temperature and inflammation, once we gear it up it needs something to work against...but we've put ourselves in environments where it doesn't....and so it works against us, hence autoimmune diseases...

Good Morning, Lt Col Charlie Brown!
So very true . . . all other medical conditions, disease, and ailments as well.
We are part of the microbiome of earth's environment. These guys are talking about the unlimited interrelatedness we do have to respond to disease, and heal as much as possible from injury. The conversation seems to me to be about the journey that M.D.s take to become healers. Some never make it, some never seem to start. Those who arrive often do so at retirement age. It is wonderful that younger M.D.s are on that path. However, many leave the profession at that point - as far as clinical practices, and start sharing a wealth of knowledge . . . like they wished they could have shared with patients.
