Hello all! By chance would anyone know what it’s like being stationed at Aberdeen proving grounds? What it’s like stationed there such as work tempo, things to do in the area, safety of the environment, Etc… Just trying to get an idea.

I was stationed there from 2010-2014 and it was a pretty nice area with easy access to DC and Pennsylvania/Virginia areas. Are you going to 20th CBRN Command? If so and you live on post you will actually live on Aberdeen Proving Grounds and work on Edgewood about 5 miles away. There are lots to do in the area and it has everything that you can think of or you are close to it. The work schedule is pretty typical, 630 PT/0900 work call and you usually get ou around 1600. You will spend a lot of time in Tyvek suits so it can be hard hot work, but I loved my time there and you should as well.

Was there from 92-96, at Kirk Health Clinic. APG is about 40 minutes from Ft Meade, MD, 60+ minutes from Baltimore, and 90 minutes from DC depending on where your going. With your MOS, likely be stationed at Edgewood area which is 20 minutes from APG. Small town of Aberdeen to the north of post, and Hav’re de Grace about 15 to the east.

There is very little to do at APG. Baltimore and DC are not far off for weekend trips.
