Did he know their intent? It is possible some came out of curiosity, to hear what he had to say.

That's a good point Chaplain. He shouldn't prejudge people just because of a meeting. This is especially true if he does not know what they talked about.

The minister at the end of the article made a statement that I agree with. I would also add that most ministers regardless of race should encourage members of their congregations or broadcast audiences to take the time to carefully study and listen to each candidate. Pretend to not know the race of the candidates. Do this for every level of public office from the township board up to the presidency. Don't let the media dictate who we need to consider as viable candidates. Also, when someone vocalizes who they support, hear them out and respect their opinion. It is not fair to anyone for you as that person's friend or relative speak insulting words against them because they do not support who you think they ought. We all have a right to believe and vote as we wish and in accordance with our own conscience and values.

Clergy should know the issues but remain neutral. As a minister all I will tell my congregation is to study the candidates and to vote.
