Why These Infantry Marines Have a New Obsession with Chess

Commented on this before as I still think all this effort will achieve is to produce some infantry Marines that are moderately better at playing chess. I don't seeing it having a large impact on individual or unit level performance of infantry skills. But if it keeps some of them over a chess board instead of blowing their money on girls and beer, it may have some tangential benefits.... though you can still drink beer while playing chess... and should.

Chess is an excellent strategy game...

Now that is truly fascinating. I learned to play bridge (cards) while attending Advanced Infantry Training. Confused the hell out of our DI's who would wander by while we took breaks in training...
