The headline is misleading and the details are murky at best.

“ Morales-Sanchez did not plead guilty to the murder charge or several other charges of which he was acquitted. He was found not guilty of two specifications of attempting to violate a lawful order; two specifications of disobeying a superior commissioned officer; and one specification each of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, wrongful discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, and negligent discharge of a firearm.”

The headline shouldn’t have the “murder charge” leading as seeing he was acquitted of murder and other crimes.

“Acquit
To set free, release or discharge as from an obligation, burden or accusation. To absolve one from an obligation or a liability; or to legally certify the innocence of one charged with a crime.”
