Fort Hood officials have identified a soldier found dead Friday in his barracks room as Spc. Dion Shannon Servant, a petroleum supply specialist who'd served on active duty since June 2014.
Servant, 24, had been with 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since December of that year, according to a Monday news release from the Texas post. His death remains under investigation; no cause has been released.
The Maywood, Illinois, native earned the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon during his time in uniform, the release states. His death marks the third announced by the installation this month.

What is going on at this base ? I've heard nothing but negative things about it from SM's and the media. I've been there a few times for a visit. Never for a tour. So very sad

Good question ma'am. I spent from 1999-2009 and absolutely loved being there. I continued to re-up for stabilization because I liked it so much. So many complained but I never could understand why. There is SO much to do in the area and the cost of living is great. The only place I've been that I enjoyed more was Schofield Barracks. And c'mon...you can't really expect any duty station to compete with Hawaii.
