Last month was the first month since the wars started that there wasn't a single casualty in Iraq of Afghanistan

I think this is a big deal. Think about it. For the last 13 years someone has been killed every single month. This is the first month since then that this didn't happen. Is this a sign of things to come or did we just get lucky?

Because it's been several years since the two wars we've been fighting have been news. Mainstream media is ratings based, and apparently there's no ratings to be had covering a war that never seemed to end.

Concur with 1SG Hansen. I think we all know the spray and pray IDF is coming over here.
However, there really is a new trend developing within the rank and file of the Taliban (ignore the other groups for the sake of discussion). After what essentially comes out to 30+ years of warfare, the average dirt farmer that's paid to emplace IEDs and launch rockets is starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Some guys just aren't picking up their weapons, because they're starting to believe that after fighting all this time, they might just make it out of the woods alive, so why should they chance being killed during what they see as being the last year of significant US presence in Afghanistan?
