For those saying you have to deploy to qualify for the Post 9/11 GI Bill that's incorrect. This is from the Post 9/11 GI Bill website:

Post-9/11 GI Bill

If you have at least 90 days of aggregate active duty service after Sept. 10, 2001, and are still on active duty, or if you are an honorably discharged Veteran or were discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days, you may be eligible for this VA-administered program. Whether you want to apply your GI Bill benefits to college classes or an on-the-job training program, the GI Bill Comparison Tool will help you make the most of them. You can also review the program pamphlet

You just have to have served 90 days on active duty after Sept 10, 2001.

Yea I thought so, I have 3 years of active duty so I should be fine. Thanks for clarifying.

If you have deployed you can get the Post 9/11 GI bill. You get anywhere from 50-100% of tuition paid directly to the school, depending on how much active duty time you have. 3 years for 100% plus you get the same percent of your housing allowance. Approximately 1500 times your percent per full month of school. Plus the Post 9/11 gives you an extra 500 up front each semester for books.

No not true. You just have to have spent at least 90 days on active duty to qualify for the Post 9/11 GI Bill. It even states such on their website. You don't have to have deployed. Also it's 100% tuition and if it's after you get out, you get the E5 BAH and book stipend. If you use it while on active duty you get tuition and a book stipend.

I have used it on active duty with Tuition Assistance. It covered what TA didn't for my graduate classes and I got a book stipend.

You can only use the Montgomery GI bill (monthly payment To you of about 500.) Or tuition assistance (paid directly to the school of about 4500.00 split between two semesters per year.) Unless you have been deployed.
