Mesoscale Discussion 0890
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0312 PM CDT Wed May 29 2019

Areas affected...Portions of north-central/northeast TX into
southeastern OK and western/central AR

Concerning...Tornado Watch 293...

Valid 292012Z - 292115Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 293 continues.

SUMMARY...All severe hazards remain possible across Tornado Watch
293 in the short term.

DISCUSSION...A messy storm mode has developed across much of Tornado
Watch 293 this afternoon, with numerous cells ongoing across north
TX into southeastern OK and western/central AR. Strong shear and
instability remain situated along/ahead of a surface cold front
across this region, and all severe hazards remain possible. The
large hail and isolated tornado threat should remain relatively
greater across north TX and vicinity, where convection is still
semi-discrete and somewhat greater low-level shear exists per recent
mesoanalysis estimates. The damaging wind threat may gradually
increase across parts of western/central AR if storms can grow
upscale into a small bowing cluster as suggested by some
convection-allowing model guidance. Finally, a small eastward
extension to the Tornado Watch may be needed across north-central AR
if current radar trends continue.
