SGT Ben Keen It would definitely fall in the good news category. Everything I am hearing out of the region is with the new administrations support the local commander are able to prosecute the fight more efficiently. My biggest concern is what the aftermath will leave us with some of the groups that are supporting the fight.

I don't think it marks the end of the fight at all, because as long as he is alive he will continue to operate and lead, even if from another location. And honestly, even if he was killed someone would step in and replace him. As far as Mosul, definitely good news for that city and Iraq, and hopefully it does close out that chapter and the city and its citizens can start to return to normalcy and rebuild their lives.

I agree now Raqqa is the key now, once it falls the ISIS goes back to being a insurgency and we wait for the next group to come on the scene.

I have a feeling that once Raqqa does fall that we will see ISIS move into Libya and set up shop on a grand scale...not sure they'll ever go away.

LTC (Join to see) - I think your last thought sums up how most people feel. I doubt ISIS and/or the ideas behind the group will ever truly go away. And you are right if he is killed someone is probably already getting in position to take over.

LTC (Join to see) - The will not go away just will not control the resources they do today. It is an interesting thought about Libya, like Syria and Iraq their government is weak enough to allow the group to gain strength there. I hope someone in the Administration is thinking about that threat.
