My former father-in-law was a combat surgeon with the 179th Inf Rgt, 45th ("Thunderbird") Inf Div, WWII and at the war's end was in the 103rd ("Cactus") Inf Div - he would never discuss the liberation of Dachau.

That's Awesome! I was in the 179th Inf. 45th (Thunderbirds) in Miami, Ok. for about 3 yrs and then went to the 256th Combat Engineers in Joplin, Mo. All that after I got out of the Navy.
