The City of Tucson seeks a motivated, dependable, and experienced professional to serve as an Information Technology Specialist with the Tucson Police Department's Counter Narcotics Alliance (C.N.A.) team. General Description
Installs and maintains computer hardware and software including servers and networks. Troubleshoots problems and provides technical assistance and training to end users in the use of desktop hardware and software.
Essential Functions
Occasionally directs helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, volunteers or temporary employees and may temporarily act in a higher capacity.

Assists end-users with computer problems by responding to questions, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, and performing maintenance.

Ensures all Help Desk calls are logged, escalated, and closed out. Assigns incident reports to staff for resolution.

Meets with end-users and user departments to schedule computer replacements, produces standard drive images for departments, configures and tests personal computers, and installs software and equipment.

Maintains inventory and equipment by tracking updating and scheduling equipment replacements, removing and replacing equipment, researching and installing hardware.

Tests software upgrades and enhancements to ensure compatibility.

Minimum Qualifications
Six (6) months post high school and two (2) years of directly related experience.

*Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions, as well as their resume.

The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an in-person Oral Board Interview.

Oral Board Interviews will be held the week of January 22, 2024.
Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on a Civil Service Eligibility List. An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service Eligibility List will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:

· 10% - Education and Work Experience

· 10% - Resume Review

· 80% - Oral Board Interview

This recruitment will establish a Civil Service Eligibility List that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next six months.

The highest scoring candidates placed on the Civil Service Eligibility List may be invited to participate in a Selection Interview. If Selection Interviews are held, the date, time, and location will be provided at a later time.

Veteran, Native American, or Disability preference points will be added to the final score for those who are placed on the Civil Service Eligibility List. If you qualify for preference points as outlined in your Employment Profile, you must upload your documentation as part of the application process or email it to TPD_HR@tucsonaz.gov. Copies of DD 214s must reflect a characterization of service.

Candidates placed on the Civil Service Eligibility List who receive a contingent offer must successfully pass the following:
