JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you looking for a stable career with growth potential? If you're a natural leader, and willing to get your hands dirty, we are hiring immediately for a Repair Service Technician Apprentice.

Every job is a new challenge, so you must be adaptable and comfortable with change. Some assignments involve simple installations, maintenance, and quick repairs. Other sites are complete structural renovations or remodel projects that require knowledge of multiple trade skills (e.g., carpentry, masonry, HVAC, concrete, welding, gas plumbing, etc.) This position requires physical fitness, endurance, and working at heights.

Start with paid on-the-job training via our Registered Apprenticeship Program. Later you'll earn industry certifications to learn the complex nuances of this specialized trade. The goal is to facilitate the smooth completion of chimney construction jobs to achieve the best results. Your team serves a critical purpose, to help our customers and their families maintain safe, operating fireplaces and gas utility venting systems in their homes.

Apprenticeship Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older
Authorized to work in the U.S.
Have a driver's license with a clean driving record
Submit a background check and drug screening
Pass aptitude and fitness tests
Able to lift up to 60-80 lbs
Able to climb ladders rated up to 250-lbs
Able to build and work on scaffolding at heights for long periods of time; year-round
Must be able to reliably commute daily to Spring Hill, KS (or be willing to relocate)

Responsibilities
Follow instructions and safety procedures
Read a tape measure to take measurements
Calculate the size and amount of material needed
Use hand and power tools (e.g. pneumatic drill, saws, ladder, etc.)
Wear PPE, climb ladders/scaffold, and work on rooftops outdoors in all weather conditions
Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
Operate machinery and equipment
Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory
Coordinate with construction crew members
Be a team player with dedication to safety and customer service
Work on scaffolding at heights for long hours
Natural balance and eye-hand coordination
Be friendly with a great deal of patience
Learn quickly and must be able to ask questions
Starting Pay
$55,000 - $85,000 per year

*Our base pay is $20 per hour plus overtime but is often higher depending on relevant work experience, education or military training. *After the apprenticeship training, candidates who excel in this role have the potential to advance into a leadership career path earning up to $130,000+ per year.

Career Growth and Advancement Opportunities

A Repair Service Technician/Apprentice who steadily meets expectations and can balance quality and safety requirements is eligible to become a Team Leader. If promoted to a team leader, you'll coordinate a crew of service technicians and supervise an extensive range of repair projects. This person is equally the Construction Project Manager and leader of the team performing daily; takes responsibility for the outcome of finished repair jobs. *Please note: this is not a "desk job."

The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind with excellent communication and organizational skills. You will ensure that every job site has an adequate flow of materials and equipment to support construction projects' timely and cost-effective completion. You must be committed to safety, familiar with business and construction procedures, and provide an outstanding experience to our customers.

Job Requirements
Ability to work weekdays plus overtime
Competent using standard hand or electric power tools and other equipment
Strong aptitude in math
Must be able to ask questions and accept guidance
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
General sales experience or construction-business related experience, a plus (not required)
Familiar with laying courses of brick and block, mixing mortar and cement, and knowledgeable of safety practices for both masonry equipment and scaffolding (preferred, not required)
Proficient in English (e.g., written and verbal)
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license
