Clinical Director at the Vance Johnson Recovery Center Veterans program, Heroes’ Mile

Heroes’ Mile is a Substance Abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) program designed for Military Service Veterans who are experiencing problems with addiction and other psychological impacts.

Position Description:
The Director of Clinical Services plans, directs, controls and evaluates day-to-day operations of the hospital’s social work department & therapy services. Develop short-term clinical services, programs, and products. Participate in development of long-range clinical program planning. Function as inter-departmental liaison to the medical staff, nursing staff, and other specific hospital departments to ensure well integrated provision of services.
Responsibilities:
• Develops and implements programmatic and administrative policies and procedures in order to attain programs’ goals and objectives.
• Supervises staff, including staff utilization, recruitment selection, orientation, training, guidance/counseling, employee relations and performance evaluations.
• Ensures quality assurances in the program’s service delivery, including clinical care and documentation.
• Responsible for overall productivity of the programs to meet standards.
• Responsible for continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive services and coordinates communication with other components of the facility and outside agencies.
• Provides appropriate lectures and training to staff and patients.
• Maintains clinical program compliance with all applicable JCAHO standards, as well as maintaining HRS certification for all eligible programs.
• Develops and prioritizes budget allocations for inpatient programs.
• Maintains appropriate documentation, including internal personnel records, operating reports and specific duties and analyses.
• Works with Director of Risk Management/Compliance to formulate a written plan for clinical services.
• Attends in-service training and participates in other educational activities, as required.
• Interfaces with financial business development and administrative teams to coordinate patient benefit status, patient treatment needs, and the resulting length of stay.
• Reviews all admissions for appropriate therapist assignment.
• Selects and uses a comprehensive assessment process that is sensitive to age, gender, racial and ethnic, cultural issues and disabilities.
• Establishes accurate treatment and recovery expectations with the client and involved significant others.
• Facilitates the client’s engagement in treatment and recovery process. Works with the client to establish realistic achievable goals with achieving and maintaining recovery.
• Provides therapy in compliance with internal policies, external governing statues, and guideline including the JCAHO and Medicare.
Education:
• Masters Degree in health or human services related field required.
• LISW preferred but not required.
Work Experience:
• Experience with multiple treatment settings e.g. inpatient, partial, outpatient, hospital, or residential based.
