Now I learn on Fox News that they're claims that he was hard to work for, took pills to sleep, drank will on duty. This of THE VERY DOCTOR WHO WAS THE DOCTOR FOR NOT ONLY OBAMA BUT BUT PRESIDENT BUSH AS WELL!!!!.Come on, I would much rather have someone who is familiar with being in the Military that some pencil neck MF who isn't worried about anything other than the bottom line.

why is everyone blaming the democrats for this? It was the republican leadership who cancelled the hearing, not the democrats. They never would have done that unless there was enough smoke to pause and look for the fire. Isn't that their job, anyway? And there have been republican senators citing the allegations, after they said they heard from both former and current military members who worked for/with Jackson. So are the republican leadership and the military members all now, suddenly, secret democrats and "snowflakes"?
Even apart from these allegations, I feel this doctor has nowhere near the management experience required to lead the VA, one of the largest organizations in the government. My experience with doctors is that while many are very intelligent, most actually avoided management type positions in favor of operating, or doing whatever their specialty is. And almost every family practicioner around here who started in a private practice has given up and joined a conglomerate where several doctors work under a common administrative company that runs all the business stuff so the doctors can do what they are good at, and not try to be businessmen instead of doctors.
Here is a link to his bio. He is truly a medical golden boy, honor graduate at many of his Navy medical courses, and very prestigious assignments. But he's been in the White House since around 2007, and as high speed as that is for a doctor, the WH Medical Unit is not a huge organization. And if gives him no real experience in the issues facing the VA, such as privatization vs government, opening and closing facilities, construction requirements, budgeting, etc.
I happen to think Trump is right that the guy doesn't need all this grief. But I wish he would have thought of that before he picked him because he looks great on TV and said he had great genes, and done a little bit of vetting before making the announcement. This fine officer's reputation, like so many who have worked for Trump, is likely, unfortunately, to be tarnished because the WH doesn't do their job in properly vetting people.

Cpl Scott McCarroll - pls don't get me wrong. I have enjoyed our discussion and greatly appreciate that it has remained respectful even though we disagree. It has been a nice change from the usual RP threads. I understand how you feel. I can only watch Fox News in tiny quantities before the (IMO) total disregard for facts kicks in. And I see them leaving out pertinent details that are on other stations. But I am sure that when you go to CNN or MSNBC you will definitely see very biased commentary. I may be negligent on using the thumbs up thing because I spend most of my time on forums that don't have a like it thumbs up feature so I just tend to not realize they are there and rarely use them. But I have enjoyed our discussion today.

LTC (Join to see) thank you, I can be as stubborn as an old mule at times. You are right about CNN and MSNBC, I can only take so much before as you put it the total disregard for facts kicks in IMO. Fox has a show in the morning called Out Numbered, it's four journalist (women) against a male interviewee. Two of them are Democrats and 2 Republicans. It's an open discussion on topics of the day. I have yet to see any type of open forum from the others. I will say that I seem to be as entrenched in my opinion as you are in yours. And you really do have to admit that the Democrats have been holding up the confirmation process for President Trump's picks. Anyway as I said thank you I will agree to disagree.

Cpl Scott McCarroll - I hear what you're saying but you have to remember the same game of obstruction that Trump and GOP are accusing the Dems with all these confirmation hearings is no different than the game of obstruction that the Dems accused the GOP while Obama was in office. That's why what matters is the details that come out during the actual hearing that will allow us to have a more informed opinion.
And yes, I've went through TS-SCI process; I've been interviewed myself because someone used me as a referral. The questions they ask will inform the investigator about trustworthiness, loyalty, signs of corrupt, illegal, immoral, unethical behavior that will make you high risk of being compromised. They don't ask "does he get along with others" or "is he a good leader". The likelihood that a reference is going to be someone that doesn't like professionally or personally is highly unlikely as well.
You are correct. None of us has to agree. That's not the point of conversation but I will ask you to continue to be open minded and point out any hypocrisy by either side in an argument. Anytime I hear a GOP senator call Dems obstructionist, I remind myself of the words Sen. McConnell said in 2009; to paraphrase "we will block any agenda that the Obama administration puts forward", that included federal court nominations, a SCOTUS nominations, and similar criticism for every cabinet nominee. Our government is an ugly mess for several years now. Thanks for the discussion. Have a good one.

MAJ James Woods I will admit ignorance in anything prior to President Trump. I grew tired of the smoke all politicians would blow up our asses to get elected and then forget what they promised as soon as elected both parties. I am of the opinion that the three branches of government are for a reason. Of course the Legislature makes the laws, the Judicial rules on legalities. And the Executive runs the Country, so when He ran I made a point to vote. Contrary to what most want to think this Country is a multi TRILLION DOLLAR Business. So I would like a Proven CEO. Both parties bluster and continue to blame each other.
Now here's a question for you, do you agree with Obama Care and all that goes with it, because the care given to Vets though the VA is what was coming. A prime example is what is happening in Briton right now, a baby was taken off life support and expected to die, the right to die was decided by the doctors and now the parents can not even take the child to Italy who has agreed to take him. I mean police were called to insure that the parents could not remove the child.
