This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties:

The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, MO is currently accepting applications for current and future Registered Nurse vacancies on our Acute Care (Med/Surg) Unit. Multiple appointments are available. John J. Pershing VA Medical Center is a Level-3 complexity medical center with six (6) Community Based Outpatient Clinics.

This vacancy announcement will be used to create an applicant pool. Qualified applicants will be referred as vacancies occur. More than one vacancy may exist.

Acute Care (Med/Surg) RNs are responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Responsible for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values and previous experiences. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Acute Care RNs provide care in an in-patient setting.

Night shift receives 10% differential; weekends receive 25% differential, and nights and weekends receive 35% differential.

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Work Schedule: Night shift (6:00p.m. - 6:30a.m.) with 12-hour tours to include weekends and holiday rotation as scheduled. There are six (6) 12-hour shifts and one eight (8) hour shift per pay period.
