My only shot at it was in 1993 at Camp Courtney, Okinawa and it was a epic failure.

The Army does, and I've seen a big push for it here at Ft. Carson. If a Soldier shows up on our inbound roster (which often times, they do not), they are immediately assigned a sponsor and heads will roll if that sponsor does not reach out before hand, as well as once the Soldier has arrived.

The Army does. It is supposed to be mandator. However, I never had one.

I had one assigned, met them 3 weeks after I arrived and never saw them again.

I guess if I asked for one I might have received one but I am pretty self reliant and didn't think I ever really needed one.

I know the Air Force did back in 2010/2011 time frame. But it was up to the person who was PCSing if they wanted a sponsor.
