I thought this would be a good way to add some humor to the discussions list.

Things like...:

- Simply ask "Why?" for anything.
- "That was easy." after getting smoked
- Complain about the heat/cold
- Touch the campaign hat.

When I was in basic at Ft. Benning, my dad sent only one letter . . . addressed to the Drills. It contained only six words, "Real soldiers graduate from Ft Knox."

CH (LTC) Paul Kauffman - My daughter was an SMP and did a split basic AIT over two summers. Basic Graduation at Fort Leonard Wood - I turned up in uniform. She later told me she took a bunch of Grad day heat from the Drills for never disclosing her Dad was LTC. She must have said something next June at Fort Sam because no grief there.

1. Tell your Drill Sergeants you don't like water.

2. Hand the Drill Sergeants your luggage. Ugh...what the hell was I thinking...

Add snow that you don't like and that will get an evil grin from the Drill Sergeant.

Damn I couldn't keep from smiling or grinning when I was getting a face to face ass chewing. Needless to say my chest size went from a 36" to 44" in one year. Pushing Fort Leonard Wood closer to China with every smile.

No, that was at West Point's Beast Barracks as a former enlisted soldier. It was constantly harassed with "Smirk off, Cox." I had to laugh at these Cadets thinking they understood the Real Army.

Oh boy, smiling got me in a lot of trouble at Ft Jackson. Drill Sgts didn't scare me after 6 years of Tae Kwon Do instructors screaming at me and making me push....so I was still pushing on Family Day at Jackson.

My father was an E-9 (CMSgt). I simply told the DI that he didn't have enough stripes to scare me. I had been chewed out by experts, and his only tickled.
