Yesterday, I was honored to stand with the next Sergeant Major of the Army, the Commandant, and 1st Sergeant of the United States Army Drill Sergeant Academy as class 505-19 graduated. This was the largest class of new drill sergeants to graduate in years, if not ever. 139 of the Army’s newest premier trainers will now go and train the finest soldiers in the world. I am honored to have been a part of this moment and the last 9 weeks. I now prepare to move on from my position as the Senior Drill Sergeant Leader to assist the Academy’s growth as the Chief of Training. 12 years ago, almost to the day (28 June 2007), I never would have imagined this is where I would be. Thank you to the leaders, mentors, and peers who have had part in my success.
