Do I have to do Reserves to get my full separation pay after hitting my RCP at 8 years as a Specialist?

So I been in the army 8 years I am a specialist and I hit my RCP im told i get seperation pay. My question is am o required to do reserves to recieve this seperation pay?

No, it will be just like ETS. You get orders, and while clearing Finance- you get your briefing and told what pay and when it will come. All done at your current station

I assume you are referring to Retention Control Points and involuntary separation. Separation pay doesn't require you to still be in. The whole point is that you are being separated. You need to talk to your finance folks and admin folks to get a better grasp of everything happening. Now is the time to ask questions to those in the system

SP5 Peter Keane IRR isn’t normally required after 8 years of service. Even then this is different because it isn’t a normal ets/EAs where someone is finishing obligated service. The individual is being involuntary separated.

SP5 Peter Keane It’s case by case basis. Med boarded folks who get less than 30% don’t get slotted in the reserves. I would consider RCP folks to be in a similar boat as they met service limitations due to their rank. I highly doubt they will keep him on board in a reserve fashion but it’s worth talking to finance and admin about it because not everything is black and white in these circumstances

To he eligible for full separation pay you must be eligible to join one of the three reserve components (two for branches without a Guard). If you're not eligible to join an RC then you receive half Separation pay
