I got a question? If I go to marine reserves MP, I pass basic training and all, can I become a cop in civilian life as well? Like would I still need to attend college?

I WAS A MP AND MOVED ON TO BECOME A DETROIT POLICE OFFICER FOR 28 YRS AND RETIRED FROM THE MILITARY ALSO. I WOULD CHECK YOUR DESIRED DEPARTMENT TO SEE WHAT THERE REQUIREMENTS ARE, I DO KNOW YOU WILL HAVE TO GO TO THE ACADEMY AGAIN.

Depends on the State. Also depends on local Departments. I was with Army almost 11 yrs. I became a Cop. I didn't attend College. However, I was a MP in the Army. When I got out of Basic and AIT. It was then after about 2 cycles my MP rolled into my Civil Law Enforcement.

You should be able to. College never hurt anyone either....ask the PD you want to be a part of though.

Donald Elam - You will have USMC MP school under your belt when you graduate; that may help you in the civilian sector a lot. Good luck Donald!
