I'm shipping out in a couple days and about two weeks ago while training I hurt my knee. I have been resting since and pampering my knee but the pain really hasn't subsided much and I'm afraid this is going to impact my performance in basic to the point that I'm even afraid of shipping out anymore. This injury has really impacted my mindset negatively and I feel like I'm already setting myself up to fail in basic because of not having a positive outlook towards basic.

Report the injury to your recruiter ASAP! Please do not ship with an injury!

Injury has been reported and although at the end if the day shipping out or not is my choice, recruiter insists I will get enough rest through reception that I should be fine but I'm not so sure of that.

Joshua Obenauf this seems odd that one would say you will get enough rest during reception. Sounds like he thinks you may be trying to back out last minute. Reception is different for each branch. Yeah in the Air Force there was a a lot of down time but if you have an injury you need to get it medically taken care of. Go to a doctor. Reception when my husband joined the army was completely different. Regardless there will be marching everywhere. Pushups because you can’t do anything right and running for pt. Don’t set yourself up for failure especially early on as this could really affect the future of your career in a plethora of ways.

Go to a walk in clinic and get it checked. If its a sprain it should be better in a couple weeks. If its something more serious you need to tell your recruiter!

I don't have insurance, had to quit my job to ship out. I have no idea what it is and trying to figure out if I should ship out at all with this injury and this mindset.

Does it seem or feel broken? If it is broken that’s a poor situation to be in.Joshua Obenauf

PFC (Join to see) doesn't feel broken, a sprain may be, but I know I definitely messed something up on the inside like may be tendon or a muscle pull. I had some swelling and the swelling is mostly gone now but the pain hasn't.
