How many Leaders have Soldiers stuck in the barracks this weekend and what are you doing about it?

I wonder how many Soldiers are going to eat at the DFAC or fast food because they cant or won't go home. I was always taught to take care of your Soldiers but I bet when I walk through the barracks tomorrow there will be tons of Soldiers sitting around.

I used to always find out which of my troops weren't going anyway and make them come to my house for dinner, my 1st section chief did that to us barracks rats and I learned a great deal from that man, that I still carry with me today in lessons on being a caring and respectful leader.

Sorry you never got any responses Top, but I guess too many people were too busy to even give a quick shout out with a happy holidays or more than two votes, thanks for the original post.

Man I am just seeing this, and I got in 2008-2015, not only did the FRG(MWR&Boss) do stuff for us, but our First SGT, Platoon SGT, or BCM always let us come over for the holidays when we could not or just did not go home...Barracks Rats is a huge issue, hell I was one for a long time...though I love my isolation at times, it's good to be in a unit who cares about their soilders

In the 4yrs I was in the Army no one gave a damn as to who was in the barracks. Being invited to an NCO'S home for dinner. Unheard of. Never heard of anything like it.

Leadership is ever changing and we are encouraging our junior leaders to get to know their Soldiers. When I was growing up in FL, our family would host Thanksgiving dinner for the sailors nearby that didn't have a place to go for the holidays. They were always super appreciative and explained how much it meant to them. Too many times Soldiers think being alone for the holidays is a personal problem and if left alone in the barracks those ideas or thoughts can manifest into darker thoughts. Getting leaders involved and having them care about their Soldiers helps out a alot.

SGM (Join to see) Really Top I'm at loss for words. It seems the'old' army got lost some where and I'm not sure what to think of the new. Maybe being a member of rp can educate me of the new. I need to know.
