I was commissioned in Jan 2018. Because of confusion about DCC , I was informed about the requirement for me to attend DCC in Feb 2020. Due to COVID , my DCC and BOLC was cancelled by the army. I have been told that as an officer, I need to attend BOLC within 36 months of commissioning (or the command can start separation process).
Now I am scheduled to attend DCC in March (past 36 months of commissioning) and BOLC in Sept 21. Does anyone know where I find the clarification for the 36 month rule? also, are there updates about exceptions being granted this year? Thank you

I’ve always heard of this rule as well, but I’ve never seen it anywhere.

Now barring that, let’s just talk about it this from a unit perspective and officer perspective.

You are not fully AOC qualified or deployable for your unit until you complete BOLC. So basically you aren’t helping anyone. I am amazed you went so long without DCC being pushed on you. I commissioned in December 2018 and I knew about DCC before I even got my orders cut for my actual unit. I’m surprised no one in your unit was tracking this.

Secondly as an officer “no one told me” isn’t going to fly. Does it suck at times being left in the dark to figure stuff out on your own? You betcha it does, but guess what? You’re an officer and a medical officer who is a highly educated individual. You should know who to contact when you have questions. Find a mentor who has your AOC and take charge of your career now.

I heard this too, late similar to your situation. But, I am just barely going to get through BOLC completion at the 34 month mark! All due to COVID and trying to clarify DCC then if I was attending the short or long BOLC course (in medical services, we are required to attend the long 2-month course).
