What is Additional Skill Identifier 1K, and what are its current responsibilities?

Greetings all,

I am a newly enlisted member of the Army National Guard. If is possible, I will like to get a better insight on what ASI 1K Company CREW Specialist Course is all about. I have some information but is not very extensive. I will like to know how will benefit my function as a 25U? Any share wisdom or personal experiences will be highly appreciated.

I don't know if it's changed much in 10 years, but I'm not sure why they would call it a gunner. I was CREW during an Iraq deployment from '09-'10. I tested the systems of all vehicles prior to going outside the wire. If I found any problems, I reported it directly to the battalion EWO and had the driver of the vehicle take it to the Warlock shop for repair prior to it going out. I could deadline a vehicle due to issues with the CREW system. Only thing I can think of as far as it being tied in with 25U is that you are trained to do install and repairs of CREW systems now instead of it having to go to Warlock.
