If you do become an officer, "Don't forget to remember where you came from, "Enlisted."

Your enlisted experience will guide you, but don’t let it control you. Proudly put your soldier of the month award on the wall of your office. It will let those guys cleaning it in the evening know that you’ve been where they have been without you having to say it. They will respect your guidance and direction because you have walked the walk. At the same time don’t be a highly paid mid grade NCO. Be an officer and let the NCOs do what they do. Your fellow officers will judge you by your technical competence and bearing. Your subordinates will do the same but with more trust.

Keep asking. Back in the day I had a saying "They only have to say yes once" My main reason for getting my commission is that it meets my "one least idiot rule" just like when I pull up to a red light, I always get in the shortest line. Good luck and I am sure you will make a fine officer.

Be yourself at the board. The people sitting on the board can see right through any "fakeness" that you may portray (not you necessarily, just relaying what I have heard from board members). Your package got you to the board so you are obviously qualified.

I understand what you’re saying. I did my best to relax and be myself. They’re going to let me know by next Friday if they’re gonna push my packet to hrc!
