Bio

Staff Sergeant Paul J. Butcher reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA for recruit training on 11 April 2011. Upon completing recruit training, he reported to the School of Infantry Camp Pendleton, CA in July of 2011 for Marine Combat Training. Upon completion of Marine Combat Training, he reported to Marine Corps Field Artillery School, Fort Sill, OK in August 2011 for training as an 0811, Field Artillery Cannoneer. In September 2011, he reported to Twentynine Palms, CA for duty with Mike Battery, 3d Battalion, 11th Marines where he performed the duties of a Field Artillery Cannoneer. During this tour he completed two UDPs to Okinawa, Japan where he participated in several overseas exercises such as the Korean Marine Exchange Program and Cobra Gold as well as being promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In January 2015, he reported to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA for On-The-Job training prior to attending the Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal. In March 2015, he reported to the Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Eglin Air Force Base, FL for training as a 2336, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician and graduated as part of Class 15-190S. In November 2015, he reported to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group for duty as Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. During this tour he deployed to Kuwait in support of the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Crisis Response – Central Command and to Palau in support of Koa Moana 20 as a Littoral Explosive Ordnance Neutralization (LEON) Response Element Leader. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in November 2019. Staff Sergeant Butcher is currently serving as a LEON Response Element Leader for the 4th Platoon. Staff Sergeant Butcher’s personal awards include a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
