Career

162nd Infantry | Oregon Army National Guard

Former Assistant Adjutant General, Oregon Army National Guard, and Deputy Commanding General, State Headquarters Area Command Former Special Assistant to the Director, Army National Guard Gen Hoffman started out as an Enlisted Soldier, Commission thru Oregon’s OCS program. Branch Qualification: Infantry, Quartermaster, and Military Intelligence. He served at Platoon, Company, and in all 4 Battalion staff positions, he then commanded the 2nd Battalion 162nd Infantry Battalion. He attended the resident Army War College course. He became the Commandant of Oregon Military Academy. He was then assigned as Oregon Branch Chief for Detached Training Sites. Then Deputy 82nd Troop Command Brigade Commander. In 1993, Gen Hoffman was appointed Assistant Adjutant General for the Oregon Army National Guard and was promoted as Brigadier General of the Line. In 1997, BG Hoffman completed his General Officer tour and was assigned to the U.S. Army Reserve Control Group. He was placed on the Retired list on November 15, 2003.
