Charged with managing fleet of 40 vessels as an Inspector, and as an Investigating Officer, conduct investigations of the causes of maritime accidents and make safety recommendations for inclusion into federal regulations and/or to be implemented by maritime owners/operators. As the Safety Officer for the Sector Prevention Department and the Assistant Safety Officer for the sector during emergency situations, respond to accidents and make decisions concerning acceptable risk and safety of operational personnel operating within NIMS and ICS
