6 years 7 months enlisted while assigned to the White House Communication Agency as a 72B TTY Operator. Promoted to WO1 same day that Nixon resigned and went to Fort Huachuca, AZ and Camp Zama Japan for two tours and then returned to WHCA for another 8 years.

Responsible for manning the WHCA Duty Officer desk supporting all activities related to Presidential Communications, including deployed teams to support worldwide travel. Also on rotating basis participated in this same type of travel to locations all over the world.

OIC, USACC Telecommunications Center
Responsible for operation of USACC Telecommunications Center in support of USARJ-IX Corp. This major center supported all Garrison and tennant activities including the nearby US Army Supply Depot at Sagamihara, and the US Army Hospital also located at Sagamihara. Telecommunications Center was staffed by 45 Military and 8 GS Civilians and operated 24/7. Received award my first year for the most improved USACC facility Army wide.

Platoon Leader Mobile DSTE Terminal
Platoon Leader for a Mobile DSTE terminal and deployed on several exercises including Solid Shield to Ft Bragg, NC and other JCSE exercised at various locations including Fort Hood, TX. Also deployed to Fort Chaffee, AR to support the Vietnamese Refuge Center for 6 months. Was responsible for the entire Post Telecommunication Center to support relocation of refugees.

Commcenter Supervisor
Supported Presidential Communications at Key Biscayne and the remote network installed at Walkers Cay, Bahamas to support Presidential visits. Also was deployed on worldwide locations both CONUS and OCONUS in support of Presidential travel. Was a team member on President Nixon's historic visit to China in 1972, and later that year to Russia. Travelled about 200 days a year TDY to support Presidential travel. I was accepted into the US Army Warrant Program and was promoted on the same date that President Nixon resigned the Presidency on Aug 9, 1974
